Abstract
Numerous existentially based counseling interventions have aimed to help adults diagnosed with cancer find meaning in their lives. All of these interventions have measured only psychological outcome measures while alluding to benefits from social relationships. Shifting from the psychological paradigm to the systemic-relational paradigm in approaching and assessing counseling interventions with this population is discussed. Two measurement tools in the literature are presented as ideas for creating systemically based outcome measurement tools for counseling interventions.
