Abstract

The article discusses research on Chinese multinational companies and the resource-performance relationship. The six hypotheses examined focus on the government's role in the corporations' acquisition of resources, the effect of government policy in China on the Chinese multinationals' performance, the influence of guanxi dynamism on social-capital and market-capital acquisitions and institutional embeddedness, the level of guanxi with Chinese government officials, and the relationship between a company's financial and technological performance. Research methods and absorptive capacity in emerging economies are mentioned.
