Abstract
Perhaps the greatest contribution of this book, however, is the role it plays in consciousness raising for those of us most vulnerable to the effects of medical sexism. As Delston explains, “Acknowledging sexism and medical sexism where they exist is undoubtably the first step toward eradication, because we cannot solve a problem whose existence we do not face” (272). Likewise, we cannot solve a problem when we lack the language necessary to describe and confront it. Delston’s book gives us this language.
