Abstract

Are shippers adopting appropriate purchasing methods as they establish strategic alliances? Or, is it business as usual behind a facade of strategic alliance rhetoric? This article provides insight into these questions through the analysis of a recent survey which focused on the purchasing practices of industrial shippers. The objective of this analysis is to determine if (and how) organizations among the 382 respondents are taking positive steps toward the development of effective strategic alliances.
