Ryan Krull is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Communication and Media in the College of Arts and Sciences at UMSL. He earned his MFA in Creative Writing (2014) and a BA in Communication (2010) from UMSL. He teaches Introduction to News Writing, Feature Writing, and a variety of other courses. He also serves as faculty advisor to UMSL’s independent student newspaper, The Current.
As a journalist he has reported for The Riverfront Times on voter ID laws, policing, addiction and homelessness as well as other issues of local interest. Thanks to a 2018 Chinese Academy of Social Sciences fellowship he was able to file a series of reports from Beijing and Shanghai. He is the Interviews Editor for Boulevard magazine.
