About

Rachel Ellis received her Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania in 2017. Using qualitative methods, her research focuses on inequality and incarceration, particularly with respect to gender, race, class, and religion. Her book project is based on 12 months of ethnographic fieldwork inside a U.S. state women’s prison. Rachel’s most recent project is an interview study of women’s reentry.
