Matthew Hile is the director of the Missouri Institute of Mental Health’s Behavioral Informatics Program and the winner of UMSL’s 2013 Senior Researcher of the Year award. He is a licensed psychologist trained in clinical and community psychology who has been an active researcher in behavioral informatics since 1984 and is a fellow of the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Hile has been the information technology (IT) director for multiple grants and projects and has developed and implemented a number of automated systems including the Clinical/Management Information System (C/MIS) for the assessment and tracking of persons in the mental health system and the Initial Standardized Assessment Protocol (ISAP) for assessing consumers and measuring substance abuse treatment impacts. ISAP is currently used to assess and measure change by all of Missouri’s publicly funded substance abuse treatment programs and in other centers around the world.
A FIRST Award from NIMH allowed him to develop the Mental Retardation-expert, an automated decision support system to help clinicians treat severe behavior problems in individuals who are mentally retarded and/or developmentally disabled.
