About
Professor McDowell received her B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota, and her Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. She joined the UMSL chemistry faculty in 2016 as an assistant teaching professor. Following receipt of her Ph.D. degree, she held a postdoctoral fellowship at Washington University, and then she held faculty appointments in chemistry and medicine more recently there. She has also taught at Saint Louis, Lindenwood and Maryville Universities in St. Louis. Professor McDowell has published extensively in the area of electron transfer in biological systems as well as Rotational Echo Double Resonance NMR Spectroscopy (REDOR), including applications to biological chemistry. Her most recent work was in the area of glycosaminoglycans.
