About

Dr. Jennifer Reynolds-Moehrle joined the faculty in 1999. Her teaching interests include financial accounting and reporting. She has received a number of teaching awards in recognition of her efforts in the classroom, including UMSL’s highest award for teaching, the Chancellor’s Excellence in Teaching award. She has also been named the Missouri Society of CPA (MOCPA) Educator of the Year.

Dr. Reynolds-Moehrle’s research interests are in the area of financial reporting and accounting history. She has published research in various scholarly journals, including Research in Accounting Regulation; History of Global Accounting and Financial Reporting; Managerial Auditing Journal, International Journal of Managerial Finance, Business Horizons, and Accounting Horizons.

Dr. Reynolds-Moehrle serves the university and the academy through sustained leadership. She serves as chair on numerous COBA committees and has served as chair of the University physical facilities committee. At the national level she has been a part of the executive committee of the Academy of Historians section of the American Accounting Association, as the long-time Treasurer, then President, and currently serves as the section’s Council member.

In addition to her scholarly activities Dr. Reynolds-Moehrle has stayed actively engaged in the CPA profession. She has served on the Board of the Missouri Society of CPAs (MOCPA) and currently serves as the MOCPA Treasurer.

Prior to her academic career, in her business career she specialized in financial reporting in the Insurance Industry, both as a member of an insurance holding company and as an independent auditor.

Dr. Reynolds-Moehrle earned both a Doctor of Philosophy degree and a Masters of Business degree from Indiana University, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from the University of Kentucky. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), licensed in Kentucky as well as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).
