About

Martin Rochester is a teaching professor of political science and a fellow in the Center for International Studies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Rochester received his Ph.D. in political science from Syracuse University. In addition to teaching at UMSL, Rochester serves as the chairperson of the Department of Political Science. He is also one of the founding members of the Consortium for International Studies Education. Rochester’s current courses’ topics include: international politics; international organization and law; and U.S. foreign policy. His current research interests include international relations and pedagogical concerns in higher education and K-12. 

Rochester has authored several monographs and books, including Waiting for the Millennium: The United Nations and the Future of World Order and Between Two Epochs: What's Ahead for America, the World, and Global Politics in the 21st Century?. His international relations textbook, The Global Condition, has been used at hundreds of universities worldwide. His latest book, Class Warfare, is an analysis of the conflicts in American schooling. Rochester was also the project director of CISE’s International Studies Learning Program project, which was designed develop and disseminate innovate undergraduate materials by combining the latest advances in scholarly research and instructional technology. 

Rochester is the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teacher and was named a Distinguished Teaching Professor by the Board of Curators at the University of Missouri in 2001.
