About

J. A. Goodman is an Associate Professor at the University of Missouri–St. Louis where he serves as Coordinator for Music Education and teaches elementary music education courses and studio organ. With more than 35 years of K-16+ teaching experience, he is an active clinician in music education – especially in developing listening skills, teaching recorder in Orff levels training courses, and is the past-president of the Idaho Orff Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association.

He is a frequent conductor working with children’s choirs and adjudicating choral festivals. His current research interests include components of effective teamwork in the classroom, effectiveness of training to teach course online, and connections between music instruction, reading readiness, and reading remediation through increasing accuracy of internal rhythmicity.
