About

Professor Gokel obtained his B.S. in chemistry at Tulane University in 1968. He attended the University of Southern California, Los Angeles where he obtained his Ph.D. in chemistry in 1971 . He also attended UCLA where he did a postdoctoral fellowship with D.J. Cram from 1972 to 1974. He served at Penn State, Maryland, and Miami prior to heading the Program in Chemical Biology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He joined UMSL as Distinguished Professor in 2006 and also serves as the director of the Center for Nanoscience.
