About
Dr. Fan Li’s background is in diabetes nursing research, with specific training and expertise in non-interventional studies and advanced data analysis. She earned her doctoral degree in the College of Nursing from UMSL and had 10 years of experience in interdisciplinary collaboration with international scholars. Dr. Li’s research identified risk factors of sexual dysfunction in female Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes. Her research also examined the effect of Diabetes Conversation Maps-based education in controlling blood glucose and improving psychosocial outcomes in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes. During the pandemic, her research examined psychosocial responses of nurses and physicians in the US and China from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives. Dr. Li is actively engaged in diabetes research. She has published 19 papers and has presented her research nationally and internationally.

Research Interests
- Li’s research is in diabetes management. She is interested in utilizing machine learning technology to predict health outcomes and facilitate diabetes management in individuals with youth-onset type 2 diabetes.
